February 2012 Update

How will the STOS production be different?

We will take the score and book of the show but reset many of the scenes in a magical but stripped back production, using every theatrical trick in the book to return the show to its ghost story origins.

Ours will be a truly ensemble show, with almost the entire cast (40+ performers) playing a multiple roles throughout the show. With some great principle roles from Scrooge to Jacob Marley and the three Ghosts that visit Scrooge on Christmas Eve, there is plenty for people to get their teeth into. The large ensemble of performers of all ages, shapes and sizes will recreate London market scenes, poor factory workers, the joyous Fezziwigg's ball, a surreal music hall, ghostly graveyards and much more.

Who is Mark Feakins?

Director, Mark Feakins, grew up performing and directing in amateur theatre before training professionally at Mountview Theatre School. After a few years as an actor he fell into running a London Fringe Theatre, then his own theatre company before setting off into a career as a theatre manager then producer, working at the Young Vic Theatre and then three years as Executive Producer at Sheffield Theatres. Mark says "What I love about theatre is telling big stories and there are few bigger or better known than A Christmas Carol. I'm really looking forward to creating a fun, ensemble production with STOS which is Tim Burton meets Busby Berkeley meets Charles Dickens!"
